What Sets Us Apart

Top Dog offers a few special touches that truly set us apart from other facilities. By choosing to keep our business on the smaller side, we’re able to give personalized care tailored to each dog’s unique needs. Many of our clients have dogs that aren’t comfortable socializing with others, and that’s perfectly okay—these pups still enjoy fresh air, daily exercise, and lots of staff snuggles, just like the more social dogs. We’re also happy to help with mild tummy troubles using Pepto, Imodium, or homemade chicken and rice when needed. If a dog shows any sign of serious illness or injury, we notify the owner immediately and contact their vet when necessary. We can also administer any medications brought from home, including insulin injections, at no additional cost. Our vaccine policy may differ slightly from what your veterinarian recommends, but we’ve seen a dramatic drop in kennel cough cases since updating it 13 years ago. To keep everyone safe and healthy, we require all dogs on the property to have current rabies and distemper vaccines, along with a 6-month Bordetella booster. While this may mean an extra vet trip each year, your dog’s well-being is our top priority. For your convenience, the Bordetella vaccine can also be purchased at Tractor Supply and administered at home—ask us how, and we’ll guide you through the best way to do it!

Daycare

Dog daycare is a fantastic opportunity for your dog for several reasons.  When you can't be home during the day for afternoon potty breaks, daycare is a great option.  It is also perfect for socializing with other dogs and getting to know new people outside of their home pack.  We have dogs that join our group one day a week, up to five days per week.  We always do our best to meet your schedule needs.

A typical day in daycare looks like this. All dogs arrive between 7am and 10am.  The group plays together for the morning session, which ends at 11am. From 11am-1pm, dogs are kenneled individually for rest time and provided lunch if requested. Despite some facilities going “cage-free,” our experience has shown that they need downtime during the day, just like toddlers. The afternoon session begins at 1pm until everyone has been picked up. Our daycare environment includes a large fenced yard with climbing equipment, several toys, and pools/hose play in the summer months. We also have an ample indoor space that is heated and air-conditioned, depending on the weather.  Fresh water and the occasional cookies are provided throughout the day.

We do not breed discriminate; everyone is welcome as long as they play nice 😊 All dogs in our group MUST be spayed or neutered (this policy goes well beyond unwanted breeding concerns. Unaltered dogs emit hormones that altered dogs can feel threatened by, causing unprovoked attacks)  and up to date on all vaccinations. We have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to aggression.  We will remove any dog showing signs of a safety risk to the others.

Boarding

Our boarding facility is a kennel-type environment.  All dogs board individually in their own space, giving them a sense of security and the ability to decompress.  Dogs do not have to be spayed or neutered to stay with us.  They also do not need to love the company of other dogs.  Although many dogs enjoy playing and roughhousing with others, we understand that not all dogs are comfortable in that situation.  We provide social and unsocial dogs a place to feel loved and safe when they can't be at home with you.

Social or not, all dogs get time in our fenced yard several times daily.  Suppose your dog loves company and would enjoy the daycare environment. In that case, we will happily add them to the group at no additional charge.  Suppose your dog prefers the company of humans better. In that case, we take them out separately and spend quality time playing ball or just getting fresh air.

We are an all-inclusive facility, meaning we provide everything your dog may need while in our care.  We always have house food (high-quality chicken and brown rice recipe), plenty of bedding, raised canvas beds, bowls, toys, treats, and more.  We also welcome you to bring your dog's regular diet and any medications, bedding/special items from home.  There is never any extra charge for administering medications, including insulin injections when needed.

Grooming

We provide some grooming services for your convenience. Basic grooming, such as baths and nail trims, can be arranged before your dog departs from our boarding facility, at an additional cost. For more specialized grooming services, appointments can be scheduled with our professional groomer. Pricing for advanced grooming services will vary depending on the specific requests.
